展示についてAbout Exhibition

When examining the works displayed at the 2020 graduation and completion works exhibitions, it is evident that the students in our Oil Painting course have encountered and capably negotiated a diverse range of challenging circumstances over the past several years. At every stage of those journeys, they have diligently endeavored to create works unique to themselves.
To our great consternation, however, dramatic developments that no one could foresee have marked this past year. People around the world have been cast into exceedingly similar situations of isolation and uncertainty.
Our students have strived against this unimaginable chain reaction.
These exhibitions show that they have risen to the occasion, their works embodying the fruits of the bold mobilization of their four years of work at the undergraduate level, and two years of master’s program endeavors.
They have incorporated the skills cultivated within their respective programs and applied their expanded knowledge and heightened thinking powers to these creations.
Amid what can only be labeled as extraordinary conditions, we are witnessing the facets of the present conveyed through the combination of difference and consonance—distinctive individuality portrayed by each student’s work and the congruity brought about by having all these works shown at one exhibition site.
Today, we witness the current state of this year’s forty-eight undergraduate and forty-four master’s Oil Painting course students, illuminated by their hard work over the years. They will continue to evolve. I naturally embrace stellar expectations and pleasure at the thought of the progress and transformations these students will experience.
Hand in hand with that sentiment, however, is the realization that the works of all these individuals will never be displayed side by side in one place again. Taking this realization to heart, I encourage all visitors to closely view and thoroughly savor their works to forge vivid memories that will endure for many years to come.
