　今年もまた卒業・修了作品展開催の運びとなりました。
　自分独自の表現を確立する上において、学部４年間、修士２年間という期間は決して十分とは言えません。その限られた時間の中で学生たちは必死で努力してきました。”絵が描きたい”という気持ちと覚悟を強く持ち入学してきた彼らが、自分だけの表現を見つけ出そうと、もがき苦しんだ結果がいわば卒業・修了制作なのです。
　ある程度の成果を出せて満足しているもの、うまくいかなくて悩みと失意のただなかにいるもの、悲喜こもごもだと思います。しかし、学生生活はここで終わるものの、彼らのこれからの創作活動のことを思えば、卒業・修了は一つの通過点に過ぎません。むしろこれが出発点ともいえるのです。この結果を明日へ繋げ、きっと成果を開花させてくれると確信しております。

The time for the graduation and completion works exhibitions has come again.
The period our students spend with us—four years in undergraduate programs and two more for master’s degrees—is not enough to fully forge their artistic expression. Yet they strive to reach their objectives, their drive and resolution rooted in the passion to paint. They boldly endeavor to define a distinctive means of expression. Despite painful struggles, they are here to present the fruits of their labor.
There are clearly many levels of happiness and melancholy among the students. Some are satisfied to have attained a certain level of progress; others may feel sadness and disappointment at failing to live up their own expectations.
While their student lifestyles may end here, they have only just embarked upon the road of creative activities. Graduation and completion are no more than transit points, new starting lines in students’ careers. I’m convinced that these labors will light the way to a brighter tomorrow, leading to plentiful achievements in their chosen fields.
