先端芸術表現Inter-Media Art

先端芸術表現科では、学生は様々なメディアを用いて制作を行います。立体、平面、写真、映像、インスタレーション、身体表現、サウンドアート、マンガ、小説…といった、多様な作品が今回ご覧いただけるかと思います。その表現は様々ですが、ただ個々の作品には学生が自分の興味や社会への疑問に向き合い、自分なりに答えや興味を追求した結果が現れています。多種多様な表現の裏の、それぞれの作家の小さな声や心の動きに目を留めていただければ幸いです。

卒業、修了おめでとうございます。卒業後、作品を作るひとも就職するひともいると思いますが、皆さんの今後の人生が実り多いこと…具体的には幸せであることを祈っています。作品を作ること自体には、幸せよりは苦しいことも多いのですが、それでも何かを作ること、考え続けることには深い充実感も伴います。いつからでも、どこからでもここに戻ってこられます。藝大での経験や友情が、いつか皆さんの人生に大きな彩りを加えることを願っています。

Department of Intermedia Art students explore expression that transcends the existing framework of art and encompasses diverse elements such as 2D and 3D, video, photography, interpretive dance, sound, animation, digital media, and language. The questions and experiences in everyday life—closely connected to the meaning of life—serve as their source.
The COVID-19 pandemic has drastically changed our lifestyles, and social distancing has limited interpersonal contact. Many works created in this department call for personal interaction, such as installation art in which the exhibition method itself is the message, and works that focus on how a viewer communicates with the art. While social distancing could limit that expression, many students have flexibly incorporated these constraints into their work, looking at common concepts from a different perspective. Let us reexamine the significance of expression in these trying times.

My warmest congratulations upon your graduation or completion. Some of you who leave Geidai will continue to create works of art, while others seek employment. I wish you all the greatest happiness and satisfaction in your choices and your lives.

The process of creating works involves more struggles than joys. Despite this, I can state that devoting your mind to the endeavor of bringing something to life will bring a profound sense of fulfillment. Regardless of time or place, this is where you will ultimately return to claim your roots.

I hope that the experiences, friendships and other precious assets you gained at Geidai will instill a vast sense of achievement and motivation in your lives.
