Within the Arts Department of Sculpture, students shoulder the heavy traditional definition of sculpture (the harmony of sensation and technique, and a clear manifestation of that domain). They advance their work in a spirit of freedom across an extensive sphere. We are pleased to display the fruits of those achievements during their research and study here.
Within this temporal framework, students may use the freedom granted to them, but they are also expected to remain attuned to the principles of sensation and technique, exercising discipline and planning skills. The creations emerging from the devotion of such all-encompassing labor have strong certainty, generating an awareness of destiny formed in the quest to bring these works to life.
It is rare to have up-close views of the primordial energy human beings expend as they create such works. The pieces on display here were selected because they project such qualities. In that sense, this collection of works is steeped in the passion channeled into the spirited processes that brought them forth.
The students expertly expressing their respective destinies in these sculptures firmly sense what is needed to ascend to the next stage of their callings. Namely, addressing the themes of the world at large and the era in which those issues exist. I salute these budding artists as they strive to instill splendor in the artistic culture of tomorrow, empowering us all to join hands with them in relishing such breakthroughs.
